Beatrice Charles

James Robinson Secondary School

Congratulations to Beatrice Charles, a Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. $2,000 scholarship recipient.  Beatrice is a James Robinson Secondary School graduating senior who plans to study Chemistry -Pre-Med post high school.  Beatrice aspires to become a physician.

Beatrice was selected as a scholarship recipient because of her exemplary extracurricular and community service activities, and her strong academic credentials.  A few examples of her community involvement include:  Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry Youth Counselor; a coach for U-14 Boy’s Soccer and volunteer at the public library.  Beatrice is the Team Captain of her high school soccer team. She serves as a mentor for middle school minority students. 

Beatrice is enrolled in the most rigorous curriculum in her high school; she is an International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate.    The IB Chemistry teacher describes Beatrice as “very bright, self-confident and enthusiastic.  Beatrice often asks questions that indicate a level of understanding far beyond that typically displayed by high school students.  Beatrice is a critical thinker, and a creative problem solver.”

Beatrice applied to the following schools:  Virginia commonwealth, The University of Virginia, Duke, Washington University at St. Louis, Georgetown, John Hopkins, St. Joseph’s University, St. John’s, Hampton and Virginia Military Institute.
