Christina Powell

Thomas Jefferson High School

Congratulations to Christina Powell, a Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Senior and recipient of a $2,000 Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Scholarship.

Christina’s awards include: College Board AP Scholar with Honor, National Merit scholarship semifinalist, Alpha Phi Alpha Achievement Award and Academic Letter recipient.  Christina’s college counselor describes Christina as “having a very high aptitude as well as a terrific work ethic.  She is conscientious, self-disciplined, and dependable.  Although she places academics as her top priority, she organizes her life so that she can also participate in extracurricular activities, perform volunteer work and play an active role in her church.  Generous, kind and confident, Christina is an exemplary student.”

Christina’s community service work includes volunteer at her church nursery, and First Fruits, a charitable program, President of the Stand For Children Club.  She is actively involved in the youth group at her church, attends weekly Bible studies and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Christina applied to the following schools: University of Mary Washington, Princeton, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.
