2005- 2006
$2,000 Scholarship Recipient

Kara Adams

Stone Bridge High School

Congratulations to Kara Adams, a Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. $2,000 scholarship recipient.  An honor student from Stone Bridge High School, she is described by her teacher as “highly motivated and dedicated to her studies, honest, caring and outgoing.”  Kara wrote in her essay, “my parents have done a wonderful job of raising me.  They have taught me to be respectful, caring, strong-minded, independent, God-fearing and mature.”

Kara is a member of the National Honor Society, the Stone Bridge varsity girls’ basketball team (co-captain during her freshman and senior seasons) and track team.  Kara says that basketball has taught her teamwork, responsibility, and patience. Kara is active in her church and has been an usher for seven years.

Despite academic and athletic involvement, Kara is an active volunteer in many activities at Stone Bridge High School.  She has also been employed throughout the school year.

Kara applied to the following schools: Virginia State University, Howard, Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia Tech and James Madison.  She is undecided about a major area of study; however, she is leaning towards English, Psychology or Pre-law.
