Angela Wilson

2004-2005

 

Angela A. Wilson, native of South Carolina, is the youngest child of nine, born to Rosetta ad Elijah Wilson.  Angela received her elementary and high school education in Greeleyville, South Carolina.  She served as Miss C.M. Murray during her senior year in high school and graduated as the class Salutatorian.

Angela continued her education by receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University.  While matriculating at SCSU, Angela served as the 2nd Attendant to Mss South Carolina State and a member of the Student Body Government.  Soror Wilson became a member of the Alpha XI Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at SCSU in the Fall of 1988.  She held the position of Vice President during her senior year.

Upon graduation, Angela began her professional career with the Federal Government, working in many areas of the Department of interior in Reston, Virginia, and the National Endowment of the Arts in Washington, DC. After attending a financial planning seminar at a conference in 1994, Angela decided to change careers in mid-stream and began ot prepare for her professional vocation in Financial Planning.  She was hired by Meade Financial Services (MFS) in Fairfax, Virginia in 1995.  While employed at MFS, Angela obtained her Life & Health Insurance Licenses and became licensed in securities.  Soror Wilson has also worked for Wachovia Bank (formally First Union) as a Financial Specialist.  She currently works for Branch Banking and Trust Co. in the Employee Benefits Department where her focus is on small groups that have a need for health, dental, disability and life insurances and 401K plans.

Sorority life has had a huge impact on Soror Wilson.  She joined the Fairfax County Alumnae Chapter shortly after its chartering in 1993 and has served faithfully ever since.  Soror Wilson has served on many committees helping to increase the growth and nurture success of the chapter.  She has held the positions of Journalist, Recording Secretary, Vice President and currently serves as the Chapter’s President.  Soror Wilson also serves as a member of the National Long Range Planning Committee under the leadership of Dr. Paulette Walker who serves as the Chair of the Committee.  Recently, Soror Wilson was also elected by her fellow chapter members for the Super Soror Award, implemented under the leadership of the current South Atlantic Regional Director, Yvette Robinson.

Angela feels that each experience she encounters has allowed her to grow in a positive way.  She is very passionate about helping others.  Soror Wilson is a member of Heritage Fellowship United Church of Christ where Dr. Norman A. Tate is her Pastor.  She serves on the Finance Team and the Greeters Ministry.  Angela is a strong believer in God and knows that nothing is impossible with Him.  She has a deep sense of family and believes that any success she encounters is not of her own doing, but a gift of God, a strong faith and an enormous support network.  Angela is ambitious professional that is motivated, knowledgeable and caring.  Soror Wilson’s has a love for Delta Sigma Theta that is demonstrated through her kindness, honesty, and willingness to serve.  Later this year, Soror Wilson will marry Mr. William Wade.
